Rana Ghiassi is an Iranian independent filmmaker and actress. She came to the U.S. at age 12 without speaking a lick of English, and storytelling became her way of connecting with people before she had the words to do it.
Her love for filmmaking started as a teenager, making scrappy movies with friends on a dad-cam, and quickly realizing where she belonged.
Her work in commercial ideation and treatment writing grew as brands began shifting toward real storytelling—creating work people could see themselves in rather than just pushing products.
Much of Rana’s work is rooted in her Iranian background and the experience of growing up between two very different worlds, with a focus on amplifying marginalized voices and shining a light on untold stories, especially those connected to her homeland, Iran.
She is currently deep in development on her first feature film.
